Classic kitchen designs are a great way to mix and match different styles. These Centerville, DE homeowners wanted to create a more traditional look in their kitchen. Holcomb Cabinetry transformed the kitchen into a functional and appealing space, all with a few key upgrades.

A pillar of the classic kitchen style is wooden cabinets. The family selected cherry wood Kraftmaid Praline cabinets with raised panels. The golden finish and yellow undertones on the praline heighten the natural beauty of the maple wood. By the window, two glass cabinets add a point of interest without dominating the entire room.

A major area of improvement was the added counter space. The space-saver microwave provides valuable countertop space for cooking and serving meals. The island also adds additional counter space and seating.

The countertops are Typhoon Bordeaux granite. Typhoon Bordeaux is a natural granite – it’s been used in kitchens and interior design for longer than I’ve been alive (37 years!). It is considered one of the most classic and beautiful stones on the market. The darker praline cabinets contrast nicely with these earth-toned countertops.

To tie in the classic theme, the walls are lined with bright ceramic tiles in the subway style. This trendy and versatile offset pattern is a throw-back to the mid-century modern styles of the 50s and 60s.

Drawers and pull-outs line the perimeter of the kitchen which keeps the space fully functional. The multiple drawers are perfect to tuck away extra utensils and cookware.

This kitchen was designed to reflect functionality and personality. The extra seating on the island creates more space for hosting friends and the additional counter space and drawers make storage and severing easy. This kitchen is definitely a timeless classic and will be enjoyed for many years to come!
